Our Company
Girls meet together each week as a group to work through a programme of activities suited to their age and ability. The Explorers explore spiritual, physical, educational and service aspects of a theme. The main emphasis is on fun and enjoyment as they learn to work and play together.
The other sections meet at the same time so that they can share common elements of the programme such as games, crafts, devotions etc. The rest of the evening is spent following a syllabus of spiritual, physical, educational and service subjects. Girls in S3 and over are offered an additional programme of leadership training as and when appropriate, and have the opportunity to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme.
From time to time special events and competitions are organised for the companies in Edinburgh Division or in Scotland. Extra curricula company activities include outings and camp.
All staff and adult helpers have been trained to meet the Church’s standards of child protection and a copy of The Girls’ Brigade Child Protection Leaflet is available on request.
About the Girls Brigade
The Girls’ Brigade is a Christian uniformed organisation, which is international and interdenominational.
The Girls’ Brigade operates in over 50 countries and islands throughout the world, divided into five Fellowships - Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and the Americas, Europe and the Pacific.
The Girls’ Brigade is composed of local companies, each connected to a Church or Mission. Although girls are encouraged to attend church, non-attendance does not preclude them from week-night activities. Girls’ Brigade provides activities designed to help girls attain educational, physical, mental and spiritual maturity.
